ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT

This statement was last updated on [insert date]. We at Midlands African Choir aim to make our site, midlandsafricanchoir.com, accessible to people with disabilities.

What web accessibility is

Web accessibility means that all visitors, including those with disabilities, can navigate and enjoy our site just like any other user. We strive to provide an inclusive experience through various assistive technologies.

Accessibility adjustments on this site

We have adapted our website in accordance with WCAG 2.1 guidelines and have achieved AA compliance. Our content is designed to be compatible with assistive technologies such as screen readers and keyboard navigation. Steps taken include:

Conducted accessibility audits to identify and resolve issues

Set the primary language of the site

    Organized content for easy navigation

Created clear heading structures throughout the site

    Provided alternative text for images

Ensured color contrasts meet accessibility standards

    Minimized motion in site elements

    Made all multimedia content accessible

We acknowledge partial compliance for some third-party content.

Certain pages on our site may contain content from external sources that are beyond our control, thus affecting accessibility. We are working to address these issues wherever possible.

Accessibility arrangements in the organization

Our physical locations are designed to be accessible, with features such as reserved parking for disabled individuals, ramps for easy access, and clear signage throughout the premises to guide visitors.

If you are interested in joining the choir you would be most welcome to join us for one or two trial rehearsals. We are an auditioning choir, we hold an  informal audition for new members who are interested in joining us and whilst it is an advantage to be able to read music, we are very supportive of those who do not. Whatever your experience you can be assured that you will receive a very warm welcome.

You are welcome to email our General Coordinator; Cecilia Li and/or our Music Director; Stephen Tita on themidlandsafricanchoir@gmail.com in advance, so we can ensure that we have everything ready for you if you choose to visit us.
